Justice & Democracy

This group works with other Brigdine schools to reflect upon social justice issues and to take practical action in the local area to assist people in need.  The group meets with members of the Justice and Democracy groups from other Brigidine schools.

This year the Justice and Democracy Group went along to the annual camp organized by the Brigidines for Justice Groups around Australia.  Nine of our students gathered with students from Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and four other Victorian schools to address the theme of "Australia:  Hostile or Hospitable".  Students and teachers had workshops on Asylum seekers, homelessness and reconciliation and heard from several inspirational speakers.  It was also a great opportunity to meet and discuss ideas with students from other schools.  After the commitment liturgy, girls received their badges and pledged to work for justice and equality and to uphold Brigidine values.  It was a great experience and should kick start our work for the year.

Many thanks to Mr. Halliday, our group's leader who transported the girls to and from the venue by bus and Ms Molinaro who is also a Justice leader and supervised and participated with the girls.
